Violet Line Menu at Oasis, Vivanta By Taj, Surajkund

Metro might not have become the lifeline of Delhi yet, unlike Bombay where you can’t think life beyond local trains. Yet Metro in Delhi has covered substantial areas and people use metros regularly. Train journeys have always been mixed bag of emotions. I fondly reminisce those long train journeys when as kid we used to travel various places. It was fun and equally enjoyed the tiffins that would open up for lunch/dinner, cooked by mom. Also it was equally delightful whenever we savored local food from different stations.

Vivanta By Taj, Surajkund always fascinated me not only because of its location but also because the way it has been designed. It is to me, more like a resort, away from the hustle bustle of city for your weekend getaway.

Apart from the beautiful property that has a gorgeous view, Vivanta by Taj, also has outstanding restaurants. Paranda, is their north Indian specialty restaurant and Oasis is their all day dinning. Apart from this, they also have an excellent pastry shop.

Executive Chef Ganesh Joshi has spent more than 30 years with Taj Group of hotels and has wonderful memories to share. You will be surprised to know that he was the one who created the famous bull’s eye dessert at YBR at Vivanta Ambassador, Khan Market.

This time they came up with an interesting idea, following the violet line of Delhi metro and picking up dishes from each of the metro station. When I heard this idea, I found it very captivating. One of the highlights of the entire menu was that they focused more on flavors, in getting the perfect taste, rather than presentation alone. You will see anda fry (hardboiled egg fried with onion and green chilli and sweet lassi from JLN Stadium station. You also get to savor the famous seekh kebab rolls of khan chacha from khan market station. While paratha from moolachand station was star dish, ajwaini tawa paratha and tiffin chicken from Kailash colony will for sure win your heart too. Rajma chawla and kadhi pakoda from govind puri metro; the famous gulab jamun of sona sweets from Nehru place; everything tasted delicious! Dal sprout from jasola and adrak wali chai from sarita vihar for sure will compel you to come again. The pyaz kachori of badarpur and tawa fried machi from tughlakabad will actually force you to visit these stations. However it is delightful to have all these superb dishes at one place with hygiene factors in mind too!

After savoring these delicious dishes you may not want to partake dessert, but you can’t miss the legendry bull’s eye.

The violet menu for sure is going to win your heart and you would love to visit again and again to enjoy the food of metro.
