TabulaBeach Café 2.0 : Bringing the Beach to Delhi with Probably the Best Seafood in Town

It might not take you to the sea physically, but will surely take your tastebuds there with its mindblowing seafood. Really, my search for a good seafood destination is over, probably not in terms of variety, but surely in terms of taste. This beach themed chic café conveniently located at Asiad Village represents good lifestyle and relaxed atmosphere. The look and feel of this place is of a beach shack, esp. the outdoor seating area, where your feet can actually feel the sand. The interiors are classy and more like a fine diner. Best part about the place is its menu which has some great seafood options, the freshness and quality of which is at par with a restaurant anywhere close to the sea.

The variety of Pastas and sandwiches is also quite out of the box and you won’t find such flavor combinations anywhere else in the capital. Another highlight for me were the kickass cocktails churned out of their fusion cocktail bar. Among their signature craft cocktails ‘Paan Ki Dukaan’ needs special mention. Crafted using fresh paan leaf, gulkand, vodka, sambuca and cardamom it had great flavours without any particular flavour overpowering the other, something extremely hard to achieve in a paan based preparation. ‘Smoking Aces’ was another great cocktail created using Cinnamon Smoked Bourbon, apple juice and lot of fresh spices.

In the appetizers I loved the combination of Slow Roasted Mushrooms with Shredded Parmesan Spinach. Another Entrée I tried was Prawn Karwari, a Western Indian coastal preparation where prawns are tossed with torn curry leaves and ginger. I loved the flavor and size of the prawns.

The taste was divine and my mind was completely blown away by it. Red Snapper in Thai Herbs was also extremely well made. The fish was neither undercooked nor overcooked and was served on a bed of couscous with roasted vegetables. The chef has shown some great techniques here. Kerala Pepper Veg Curry was also really well made and the flavours were perfect.

Banana Nutella Cheesecake was a medley between a cheesecake and a banoffee pie and Nutella as everyone knows never fails to weave magic.

I am going gaga about this place because it delivered much more than my expectations and it was really hard to find a flaw with it, except the fact that outdoor seating area will largely remain idle in summer afternoons. Oh, and did I mention that this is the only café in Delhi where the outdoor seating area is dog friendly.

    I am going gaga about this place because it delivered much more than my expectations and it was really hard to find a flaw with it, except the fact that outdoor seating area will largely remain idle in summer afternoons. Oh, and did I mention that this is the only café in Delhi where the outdoor seating area is dog friendly.


A lawyer by profession, a foodie by passion, I relish what all life has to offer. As much I like to explore new cuisines I like to explore new destinations. I believe in moving around as a traveller not as a tourist. Food is an inseparable part of every culture and reveals an untold story beyond what the history books have to offer. Food brings out the child in me and makes me curious as to how much legacy and brilliance has gone into making a dish as common as butter chicken or maybe a biryani, which are now just sold as a commodity
