5 places to look forward in 2016

2015 has been phenomenal in terms of F&B activity in our city. We have seen lot of new places that opened and are doing great business. We also checked out lot of such places and some of them actually opened towards the end of the year and I think in 2016 they will be worth watching out for. Here is my list of places that opened in 2015 but will be the talk of the town in 2016. These are random in order:

Ek bar – as the name says this is the first indigenous bar which serves not only some amazing and innovative food but is also known for it’s brilliant cocktails. This was started by one of the finest chef of our country,  Sujan Sarkar and restaurateur A.D Singh. Ek bar promises you an experience that will linger on in your memories for a very long time.

Lavaash By Saby  – The intensive research of Chef Saby along with the young and talented Chef Meghna Kohli where they spent hours in the heat of Calcutta to collect more information on food, cuisine and the culture of Armenia. The food at the restaurant has Bengali and Armenian influence – mocha puff, poached egg on Armenian bread. The lavaash was the highlight of the day – an Armenian bread and it is also believed they were among the first one to invent dairy products.

Junglee Billee  – Chef Saby who created the concept of soda bottle is responsible for the amazing food. Chef Pawan Bisht who was part of soda concept is part of this team too. Everything about this place will remind you of Bombay. The food is a reflection of various places of Bombay. Be it Koliwada chicken or dhokla or Khandvi or mawa cheesecake – this place breathes Bombay. Well this is what we have as the story of Bombay – unveiled through Junglee Billee

Pluck  – Pluck will be the talk of the town in 2016 for its superb plating and some excellent eye catching presentation. This was my reaction when I was seated for my lunch at Pluck, an European fine dining restaurant, at newly open Pullman New Delhi Aerocity. Chef Ajay Anand, Culinary Chief Designer has done amazing job in serving extremely pretty dishes. Scallop Carpaccio , truffle and cauliflower and Deconsutructed Mullligtawny, coconut gel and puffed rice were the highlights of our lunch. I am looking forward to his culinary experiments which he will bring on table.

FLYP at MTV – I foresee that the food at FLYP will raise bar and set standard for café food in India. The lasagne with bhuna gost and miso grilled chicken blows your mind and palette. And to add more, the bar is done by wonder boy Nitin Tewari, who has already impressed the town with his quirky cocktails at Ek Bar.
