Celebrate Your Christmas at Café Diva with Some Mulled Wine and Turkey Pizzas

cafe diva A lazy brunch at a pretty Café is a best way to spend your holiday. Even better if you don’t have to get up from your chair and sumptuous Italian food is served right at your table. Christmas festivities make the experience all the more memorable.

I would call myself really lucky to have been invited for the Christmas Celebrations at Café Diva located at Sangam Courtyard, R. K. Puram and treated with a perfect Italian Christmas lunch prepared by Chef Ritu Dalmia herself. The perfect setting, the perfect food and the perfect drinks, what else can you ask for?

cafe diva sangam courtyard Café Diva has already earned a great reputation for serving authentic Italian fare. The one located at Sangam Courtyard though being a small café which can seat around 30 people, has a very warm, cozy and inviting décor. As you enter you are welcomed by a christmas tree, red and green wreaths, beautifully decorated tables and warm smiles. It made the atmosphere all the more festive and exciting.

The celebrations started with Mulled Wine, a traditional European preparation, usually consumed during Christmas, which is made by heating red wine along with some spices like cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. I tried it for the first time and realized what I had been missing all these years. We also tried Millet and Roasted Pepper Salad and a Carrot, Green Apple and Beetroot Salad. Both the salads were healthy but really tasty. Though Millet Salad sounds simple but mint and pine nuts made it playful. Also, the latter was served with Poppy seed dressing which gave it a crunchy texture.

This was probably the best pizza crust I’ve had in years, crisp but soft enough to fold and eat, just the way Italians do it. In the main course I tried Fish with Prawn Moiley and Quinoa. I really like quinoa as it’s a healthy alternative to rice. The tangy sauce went well with the perfectly cooked fish. The Christmas Pudding with Custard was also delightful.

I really love the fact that we were made to try some out of the box dishes. Meals like these not only satisfy your food cravings but also your personal cravings like the craving of well being and celebrating life.

A lawyer by profession, a foodie by passion, I relish what all life has to offer. As much I like to explore new cuisines I like to explore new destinations. I believe in moving around as a traveller not as a tourist. Food is an inseparable part of every culture and reveals an untold story beyond what the history books have to offer. Food brings out the child in me and makes me curious as to how much legacy and brilliance has gone into making a dish as common as butter chicken or maybe a biryani, which are now just sold as a commodity
