Getafix- Finally a Health Café that Doesn’t Make Tall Claims But Actually Delivers

DSC_0481Food bloggers like us eat out a lot. It not only makes us gain weight but also makes us vulnerable to other health problems. It often crosses my mind that there should be eateries exclusively dedicated to healthy food. However, it may not be a profitable venture considering the fact that the eating habits of us Delhites land us in opting unhealthy stuff. Students prefer fast food which is rich in fats and carbs. Even the families that dine out once a week are looking for a change from their routine homely food and end up eating rich gravies and maida based breads. Chai time snacks at office include Samosas or Bread Pakoras, both dripping with oil.

When I got an invite from Getafix I had very low expectations as I’ve seen many so called healthy joints that serve bland and tasteless food in the name of health food. In fact due to these wannabe health joints my whole association of healthy food was with dull, tasteless and lifeless food.  Getafix changed that.

DSC_0483This outlet is run by Dhruv Chawla assisted by his cousin Anandita Chawla, who believe in giving attention to every detail. They have themselves done the interiors which are modern, lively, casual and give you a feel of a high end coffee shop. The menu, which is largely continental, is very unique as healthy twist is added to every dish. They have an all day breakfast menu as well.

I tried a juice blend ‘Get Fruity With It’ which had a predominant flavor of Watermelon with hints of ginger, grapefruit and mint. No sugar is added to the juice blends and smoothies so that you can savor the natural sweetness of the fruits. If you like it sweeter they give you an option to add stevia or honey. Their juices are fresh squeezed and they avoid packaged juice as much as possible.

This is also the first time I’ve seen an eatery using an Air Fryer.  I tried Air Fried Fish and Chips wherein the batter fish was air fried and served with baked potato wedges. The upper crust of the fish had a different texture than the traditional deep fried variant as it was crumbly but still crisp. I found it very flavourful esp. due to the fact that they use River Sole and not Basa.

Another noteworthy dish that I tried was Shrimp Pasta with Basil Pesto and vegetables. I was really surprised to know that they prepare their own whole wheat pasta. Very few places in Delhi prepare their own pasta from a scratch. I opted for spaghetti and it came in generous portion size.

They served me a platter consisting of small portions of all their desserts. Again, all of them had a natural sweet flavor of the fruits and no sugar was added unless necessary. They served honey alongside for those with sweet tooth. Carrot cake with dates, cinnamon and spices was the winner for me.

    This is a place about which I can honestly say that I will come again. There’s nothing like eating to your heart’s content without feeling guilty.

A lawyer by profession, a foodie by passion, I relish what all life has to offer. As much I like to explore new cuisines I like to explore new destinations. I believe in moving around as a traveller not as a tourist. Food is an inseparable part of every culture and reveals an untold story beyond what the history books have to offer. Food brings out the child in me and makes me curious as to how much legacy and brilliance has gone into making a dish as common as butter chicken or maybe a biryani, which are now just sold as a commodity
