Indulge in multi-hue Thali at Paranda – Vivanta By Taj, Surajkund

Surajkund (Lake of the Sun) is an artificial reservoir built by King Suraj Pal of Tomar Dynasty at the foothills of Aravallis Hills in the 10th century. This small village came into global map, in 1987, when Govt. of India along with Haryana State Govt. started annual Crafts Fair.

It becomes a cultural feast to savor as the best of folk traditions, music, dance; crafts and cuisine from across India create an atmosphere of carnival! Over the years, Surajkund Crafts Fair attained the recognition to become world’s biggest crafts fair when it was opened for other countries and was rechristened as ‘Surajkund International Crafts Mela’. The fair is famous for mélange of colors and culture. It celebrates unique diversity of Indian traditions and culture. Surajkund Mela speaks of classical as well folk traditions that are unique to India’s richness. In our urban lives, we seem to be losing the galore of these unsophisticated roots and traditions!

While people throng in, to indulge in this riot of colors; there is amazing array of cultural cuisine laid out for the visitors. This year Paranda, North Indian specialty restaurant at Vivanta By Taj at Surajkund has specially curated ‘Surajkund Thali’ which encapsulates the different shades and rhythm of the Mela. Chef Rajat of Paranda has created finest selection of delicacies from the state of Haryana, Punjab & Rajasthan. The flavors and textures transcend you to roots of the places.
We loved Mutton Curry which was cooked homestyle with onions and tomatoes. With the thali, varieties of Indian breads are served. Other than the regular ones like Missi Roti, Laccha Paratha, Pudina Paratha, there was also Bathua Paratha that was amazing! Visit this place to savor the authentic delicacies and indulge in the flavors that take you to a culinary rendezvous!

I am an adventurer, dreamer, marketer, musically inclined, traveler and foodie to the core. I believe food is one of the greatest gift from GOD. I have always believed in that theory and have been trying to improve my dining experience. I am learning to appreciate various tastes, and expanding my horizon. For me, a great dining experience will be something where the serving challenges the conventional taste and stamps its authority. Be it a lavish spread of a five star hotel or a plate from a road-side shanty, my taste buds should be able to experience every single ingredient in the serving and the heart should always allure for it.
