Fiesta Latina 2014,The Leela, Ambience Gurgaon – Feast, Dance, Parties

We were invited to the launch event of Fiesta Latina 2014at The Leela, Ambience Gurgaon. It’s a two week festival starting from 5th April and culminating on 19th April 2014. The festival aims to bring Latin American culture closer to Indian diaspora through live dance performances, live kitchen sessions, food festival, wine dinner and cooking classes by celebrity Latin American chefs.

The countries participating in the festival are – Dominican Republic, Colombia, Panama, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Mexico and Ecuador. The Celebrity Latin American Chefs who would be mesmerizing through their culinary skills are Chef Vicky Acosta (Colombia), Chef Javiar Ampuero (Peru), Chef Felipe Rivandeneira (Ecuador), Chef Tita (Dominican Republic), Chef Gerardo Vazquez Lugo (Mexico). Along with these Chefs, Chef Ramon Salto Alvarez (Spain) who is the executive chef of The Leela, Ambience Gurgon will also be participating in the festival.

The celebrity Chefs made signature dishes of their countries during the live kitchen sessions(Fisher & Paykel) and it was later served to the attendees. Bean Sopecito with Cheese and Fried Herbs (Mexico), Totopo with Nopales Salad (Mexico), Palm Heart Cebiche Andes Style with Green Plantain (Ecuador), Baby Potato with Fried Ants, Peanuts and Chilies (Colombia) were some of the highlights of the session.

For me, a great dining experience will be something where the serving challenges the conventional taste and stamps its authority. Be it a lavish spread of a five star hotel or a plate from a road-side shanty, my taste buds should be able to experience every single ingredient in the serving and the heart should always allure for it.
